Hi,
I recently installed a USB storage device that I borrowd
from a friend (one of these USB pens). I would like now
to uninstall it since I won't use it anymore. The device
created several registry entries in
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR end a few
others. However, when I try to remane or delete any of
these keys I get an error message "The registry editor
cannot rename [key name], error remaning key" (by the
way, removing the device from "device manager" did not
remove these entry).

Is there some way to wipe these registries entry out?
Thank you

Hi,

It is no harm to keep the USB keys in the registry unless
you have some USB devices installation problems.
My friend's PC has the similar problem that it cannot
delete the USB VID keys.
The MS Support team told me that the USB VID keys might
not be deleted if you have performed a repair install of
XP. Until now, he could not provide me with the solution.

These keys normally can be left as is.
They have special permissions so users can not delete them. The reason for this
was not exactly to help the machine owner to detect that somebody used USB flash on it
but if you wish to hide your traces this is certainly a problem :)
Wait until somebody writes a new "paranoia" utility for this case :)

I need uninstall the USB storage device!

I used a SD/MMC card reader before and I buy a 7 in 1 multimedia
card/reader now, but when I plug the usb 7 in 1 multimedia card reader
to the USB port, windows 2k "remember" it as the SD/MMC card reader
due to the pre-installed driver, only SD/MMC is supported for the 7 in
1 multidedia card reader.

How to uninstall the usbstor driver?
