Hello,
I have a pc running win2K, in a network.

Following ng suggestions I uninstalled old unused netware components from
Control Panel/Network and dial up connections/Local Area/Properties.
I removed 3 nw components, and now, what I see is
- Client for Microsoft Networks
- File and printer Sharing for Microsoft Network
- Internet Protocol
- NetBEUI Protocol

The first 3 ok, but what is that NetBEUI? Should I unistall it too?

Furthermore, in Control Panel window I see an icon CSNW, Client service for
Netware. How can I completely remove it?

thanks

Hi,

It sounds like you have removed everything properly. The CSNW icon
remaining in Control Panel after removing CSNW is a known issue and will
cause you no harm. It is discussed in the following article:

224365 Icon Remains in Control Panel After Removing CSNW or GSNW

NetBEUI is a networking protocol in the same way that TCP/IP and IPX/SPX
are network protocols. NetBEUI is only use for Microsoft networking (not
NetWare-related at all). You should only remove it if you are sure that
your computer does not use it to communicate with other Windows computers
on your LAN. These days, most people only use TCP/IP, but it's still
possible to use NetBEUI for LAN communication.
