Greetings,
The other applications which "share" Messenger's features are Remote Assistance (in Windows),
Whiteboard/Application Sharing (in MSN Messenger 5/6) and applications which try to use
Windows Messenger (Outlook/Outlook Express).
If you want to completely remove Windows Messenger 4.7, close down Messenger if it's running
(right click the messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then
click the start button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

If you're an Outlook or Outlook Express user before you do the above, just open Outlook,
click the Tools menu, then Options, then the Other tab, and uncheck 'Enable Instant Messaging
in Microsoft Outlook'. For Outlook Express, close Outlook Express, and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/stopmessenger_oe.reg
This should avoid any issues with Outlook/Outlook Express and removing Messenger.
