Hi,

For a 3rd party software, I need to be able to run IE6.

I have newly installed WinXP SP2 on my laptop. It comes with IE7 already
installed. I am trying to uninstall IE7 and install IE6. What should I do?

Things I have tried that have not worked:

1. Add remove programs -- not listed there, even with updates checked

2. spuninst.exe does not exist anywhere in the Windows folder, there is no
ie7 folder of any kind either

3. tried running ie6setup.exe /q (unable to install all components)

4. tried running ie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d:0 /c:""#E" (unable to
download all components)

5. reset registry isInstalled to 0 (didn't help)

6. added InstalledByUser to registry (didn't help)

7. I have tried MultipleIEs but that's not good enough for my third party
software

8. I have ie6setup 400 k installed and the full version with all the files
for offline download.

At this point I am starting to think I will have to install Windows 2000
just to get IE6. (This is unbelievable!)

I know in SP3 you can't uninstall it any longer, but I have SP2.

Any solutions, please?

Is "Windows Internet Explorer 7" listed in Add/Remove Programs?

Please define "newly installed"? Had you been running WinXP SP2 with IE7
installed for a while and recently decided to do a RepairInstall of WinXP?
If so...

What problems were you having which you thought a Repair Install might
resolve?

Did you uninstall IE7 *before* you did the Repair Install?
