I read the post on uninstalling BCM.

Under Add/Remove Programs, I removed the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine
(MICROSOFTSMLBIZ) (I have the BCM Update (version 2) installed) and also
removed the Pocket PC BCM component.

I do not have a BCM-specific choice under programs aside from these -- the
only other things are the entire Outlook 2003 with BCM and the update to that.

Now when I launch Outlook, I get an error message that says:

<quote>BCS for Outlook database cannot be loaded.

This action cannot be completed because BCM cannot access the database.

Service SSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ was not found on computer '.'.

Do you want to change the database configuration? Y/N <endquote>

I said NO and Outlook launched but the BCM components are still listed under
Contacts.

I also deleted all the contacts and accounts before doing this.

How do I get this off of my machine? It's causing problems that aren't worth
keeping it on.

The other method described, using the install disk, is not an option because
my PC came pre-loaded with the software and did not include the disks.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks in advance,
hsc

Remove "Outlook 2003 with BCM". It's not Outlook, just BCM v2.

As to why it has such a contrived and confusing name, you'll have to
ask the marketing dept at msft.

I believe you -- the fact that it makes no sense sadly means it's quite
probably the right answer.

I actually only have the update left, so I will go ahead and delete that.
Chances are that that's the culprit.

Of course, it's also named in a confusing fashion, so it must be the right
think to do :)

Thanks!

BTW, it worked just fine. Thanks a million.

Just glad to have it off -- it caused so many conflicts.

This was a big help to me! Thank you! I wanted to get rid of BCM but thought
by uninstalling "Outlook 2003 with BCM" I'd be losing my whole Outlook
program as well.
