Uninstall botched USB driver?

How does one go about uninstalling a botched USB driver if it does not show
up in the Device Manager? I have W2K with SP2. I assume it's possible...

Show hidden devices (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=269155)
- set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 in your environmental variables via
the Control Panel.
- Reboot the PC.
- Run DEVMGMT.MSC
- Click View, and then click Show Hidden Devices
- Right-click the dimmed network adapter, and then click Uninstall
