Looking for help...

I recently tried to upgrade my system from Windows ME to XP. I performed the upgrade once without a hitch. Then I needed to uninstall XP to revert back to ME. Now I am trying to re-upgrade to XP, and I am now getting a "blocking" error:

"Microsoft Shared Fax Client
Your existing Microsoft fax application will not be available after upgrading to Windows XP, and will be replaced by the Windows XP Fax. Please uninstall this fax application using the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, and then restart the upgrade. Your current fax settings and data will be saved, and you can use Windows XP Fax to access your existing fax servers after the upgrade."

The problem is that there is no fax program in my Add/Remove programs list, and I have searched for possible other files and applications directly in Explorer with no luck.

Any thoughts?

1. Open up My Computer.
2. Go to Tools, Folder Options.
3. Put a check in "Show hidden files and folders".
4. Click on Start, then Run.
5. Type in: CMD , and hit enter.
6. Type in: cd\ , then hit enter
7. Type in: dir fxsclnt.exe /s
(Remember what directory you found the file in)
8. Type in Exit.
9. Double click on My Computer.
10. Right-click on the C: drive and click on Explorer.
11. Find the directory that housed the fxsclnt.exe.
12. Delete the file and restart.

Now, you should be able to upgrade to Windows XP.
