uninstall and/or reinstall IE6?

i have been reading many posts about problems accessing non-secure (https)
sites. i have been having the exact same problem. and as i wasn't able to
find any clear, definitive answer to the problem i thought i'd just uninstall
and reinstall IE6. with no obvious way of uninstalling i thought id just
update but ive downloaded the latest version of IE6 and when i try to install
i get an error message that says;
"setup has detected that a newer version of internet explorer is already
installed on this system. setup cannot continue."
any help on either problem is much appreciated!!

sorry but got that backwards. i am having a problem accessing non-secure
(http) sites. i can access secure (https) sites just fine.
 
If the problem's being caused by a hijackware infection (sounds likely),
reinstalling IE won't help: Hijackware infects the Operating System, not the
browser.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
