uninstall 6.0

I have tried to uninstall IE 6.0 from my xp home machine
via add/remove, windows componets.......unchecking
internet explorer. I've even rebooted.

Both the desktop and programs shortcuts disappeared.
however, a new shortcut that I had created and moved to
the upper half of my start menu did not. When I click on
it. IE launches without a problem. I want to UNINSTALL it.
Can this be done?
