I would advise that you don't uninstall, but clean your system. Download,
install, update and scan with Ad-aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com

Lita,
If this problem has just developed as you said try going back with "System
Restore"
to a time that all was before 10/16 as followed:
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools - Restore
Be sure that your Virus Definitions get updated after this restore and check
into Windows Live Update site!
And also Lita do yourself the favor do this:
Start / Control Panel / Security Center / Automatic Updates
Put a check in the box that says "Notify me but don't Automatically install
them"
As a general rule I go to Windows Live Update site every other day to check
for them!
Never let something download to your system without you knowing what it is...

Maybe perhaps you can define what Sp2 valuable update is beyond this:
Yes let it be known it has:
1. A Firewall (if you have a Firewall, why?)
2. Virus Detection (if you have Virus Detection, why?)
3. Automatic Updates (One click you have Windows "Live" Update, why?)
If your truely aware of conflicts then, these 3 things are top of the List!
"Not saying don't Download Sp2" Just Look at 1-2-3
I have 3 up and running systems which has never recieved a Virus / Been over
taken / or have had to re-install the OS, one has been on for 3-1/2 years!

Your problem will persist until you remove the malware using a program like
Ad-aware. I have visited over 35 Computer Club members during the past three
months that had similar porblems. The number of malware programs ranged from
a low of 80 to a maximum of 512. If you read the instructions on istalling
SP2, Microsoft advises that you clean your system first.
