Every time I connect to the internet my computer proceeds
to up load my hard drive non stop at the rate of about 1MB
every 3 minutes. How can I stop this?

What do you mean by "up load my hard drive non stop at the rate of about 1MB
every 3 minutes"?

Computers load programs from the hard drive. What do you mean? How did you
calculate the rate? Is something being loaded on your hard drive from the
Internet?

Get and install a firewall and deny access to the internet
of this process.
We need more detail before we can offer constructive advice
How do you know this is happening, what is reporting this
to you?

do you have msconfig installed?? if not get it and
install it, then check out what's loading on startup.

a free firewall zonealarm. Do a search on google.com for
msconfig for windows 2000.

If this is not something you started, then you need to
take a look at the possibility you have allowed someone
access to your system. you need to read up on hardening
your system.
