I just installed XP over my old windows NT and I have
several logical drives that I would like to unify.
Anyone have any ideas how to do this while leaving the
partition that has the OS on it in tact?

The only way you can delete, create, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows XP installation, is to use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8
(www.powerquest.com).

If you have XP on the primary partition and want to unify only logical drives,
resulting in the primary and one logical, XP can handle that for you. But if
you want to merge the space occupied by the logicals into the primary, that
would require third party software.

To unify logicals only, left click on My Computer and select Manage > Disk
Management. Delete each of the logical drives and then create a single logical
drive that occupies the entire extended partition. Then format your new
logical. Of course, you'll lose any data in your logicals when you delete them.

As in all operations involving partitioning and formatting, it's a good idea to
back up first.
