When I purchased my new desktop with Vista pre-installed, I had the
Unidentified Network problem and solved it by setting the default gateway to
the same IP address I'm using for my home lan. This worked, and I was able
to rename the network and everything was good, until I tried to connect my
laptop to my workgroup and copy a file over. I then discovered that the
Unidentified Network had returned. This is only an issue with my workgroup
NIC and does not affect my Internet connection. Hopefully, I'm not rambling
too much.
NIC 1: connected to Netgear switch using a static IP address and used for my
LAN - Unidentified Network
NIC 2: connected to Netgear router using DHCP used for Internet access -
called Earthlink.
any helps/insights would be greatly appreciated.
