Ungroup a 'diagram' PP2003

In PowerPoint 2003 - I've inserted a diagram using the 'diagram gallery'
tool, specifically a 'target diagram'. I'd like to delete the automatic
callouts that get created so I can manually create callouts I can manually
format. I can't see how I can delete the callouts without deleting a 'ring'
that's attached to it. I also see no way to UNGROUP the diagram.

Anyone know how?

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,

Hmmm. I see what you mean. The only ay I could do it was cut, paste special
as a wmf, ungroup, turn to drawing object and then ungroup again. Ugly.
Although, it will help you move things around if you turn off autolayout.
You could do it with auto shapes?

Hi Tim,

Instead of ungrouping the diagram (which loses all of the diagramming
heuristics) and deleting the callouts, why not just change the existing
callouts to the type of callout that you want and, if needed, rearranging
the callouts as needed.

Changing callouts
1) Select all callouts (Shift+Click or Marquee selection)
2) Click on "Draw" on the Drawing toolbar; Select "Change Autoshape" ->
"Callouts" -> select the callout style you want

Edit/Rearrange callouts
1) From "Layout" in the Diagram toolbar, De-select "AutoLayout"
2) Move/Adjust each callout shape as desired

FANTASTIC John.

I thought I'd tried every iteration of doing something like that and could
never get them to MOVE. I must have de-selected AutoLayout at the wrong
time. <sigh>

Thanks, that's just what I needed.

Btw, I can't get the callout style to change using the method you suggested,
but I really didn't need to do that anyway. I'll play around a bit and see
if I can do it.

Thanks again!
Tim
