I've just accidentally quick-formatted a 2GB partition on an old hard
disk while hooking it up as a slave to my current computer using
Win98. It used to be the C: drive in a 4.3GB HDD. I believe there are
several recovery tools, but have had only minimal experience with any.
Please suggest some reliable ones.

The ideal tool for me would be one that will enable me to simply
unformat the partition and restore it to its former state, preferably
a free software that can be downloaded. The partition was in FAT16 and
I have not written anything to it after the quick-format.

TIA

i know Norton utilites has an unformat utility you can run
from a bootdisk

there *might* be similar stuff as freeware however...
