By mistake we formated a hard drive. I have been told in
dos you can use "Unformat" I tried this in both win98 and
win2000. I kept getting unreconziable internal or
external command.
Does anyone know how to unformat a hard drive in win2000

Thanks

Steven

"Unformat" does not exist in any version of DOS, AFAIK. That's why you're
getting the "unrecognized command" message. How did you accidentaly format a
disk? It specifically tells you it will erase all data, and asks if you're
sure.
I know there are tools out there that will recover deleted data that hasn't
been written over yet, but I'm not sure about tools that will recover data
from formatted partitions.

Try get a copy of Norton's Disk Doctor...

This has an "unformat" utility in it... but I don't know
about the recent ones.

Oh, and KB... Think back to the days of MS-DOS 3.3 -> 6.22
MOST versions of MS-DOS did have an "Unformat" utility.
