I am trying to use remote desktop to access my windows xp sp2 computer.
Not working.
NMap from an external machine is showing my host tcpip port 3389 as
"filtered." Running etheral on the host computer while trying to access
from an outside computer reveals only SYN activity on host port 3389.
Also a "telnet localhost 3389" command on my host machine brings up a
blank screen, as expected.
This makes me think that the remote desktop service is running properly
on my host machine, and external requests are getting through to the
machine, but something is blocking the remote desktop service from
responding to the requests (hence NMap's detection of "filtered"). I
haven't got any other firewall service running (have disabled the
windows firewall service, and my pc-cillin firewall is turned off).
Is there any way I can determine what is blocking my port 3389?
