I was looking through my task manager today and saw a few processes that I
didn't recognize. Most of them I was able to identify with a little
investigation. However, I have not been able to find a satisfactory
explaination for a process called MGS.exe. Can someone tell me what this is
and why it is a running process on my computer? Thanks.

Thanks, that was the information that I found as well. Most of the data said
that it was a worm spread across AOL, which I don't have and haven't received
any communication from AOL customers. But, thankfully, in the time since I
posted my question and your reply I was able to find the culprit. The exe
doesn't reside in the Windows folder, which is good. It turns out that it is
a utility prog for a rarely used, networked image scanner. Thanks for your
very prompt reply, though. I truely do appreciate it.

Glad to hear it was no big deal. In the future you can use a program such as
Autoruns or Process Explorer which are free from SysInternals/Microsoft that
can help identify the process by showing the path to the executable which
may be in an authorized application folder and by providing a publisher name
for the executable for the process that may help identify it. I have never
seen malware that had a publisher name associated with it.
