when I try to send a message to a certain distribution list, I get a pop-up
that just says "an unexplained error has occurred" I tried delete the group
and re-adding it but it still happens

You did not state your Outlook version, information store nor how you
selecting this DL as a recipient. You will need to.

Usually means that the DL or at least one of addresses therein are corrupt.
Happens a lot. DL's are not robust.
