XP home w/EI 6. Internet surfing speed good, 1 MEG+,
BUT,bring up programs, pictures, documents, and other
stuff which is resident on my system has slowed down
recently. I do disk clean and defrag regularly. Also,
virus and adware/spyware checks. I try to keep an
unclutterted system. Free space 83%. Good restart time.
What could be bogging me down on bringing up internal
stuff? Thanks, Phil

Thanks Ty. At first look this doesn't appear to something
I can knock off in a few minutes. I'll check it out. Phil

One of the programs running in the background could have
a memory leak. Check out this Knowledge Base article that
can help you out:

Not a common reason but I've just solved a similar
problem on a friends machine by enabling memory checking
on the bios, instantly discovering that 50% of the
installed memory had failed. Plenty of memory to start
but running processes soon caused a slowdown.

What anti-virus programme are you using?
