Any suggestions?

Not to scare you, but last time I received that error when i had Windows XP
it was a downloaded virus and I had to completely reformat my computer.
You're problem might not be the same, but it couldn't hurt to run a Virus
program.

mine is doing the same thing. anyone know what's going on? I have complete
virus protection and i'm behind a firewall so that's not the problem.

My computer shuts down like this almost on a daily basis now. I'm worried.
Any ideas out there????

Are you all using HP? I hear my fan running loudly - I have a lunch this may
be related to overheating and may need to be sent back to HP. I am trying a
cooling pad and will let you know.

Try this:

Go to Advance Power Settings.
Set hard drive to turn off a minute or 2 before sleep.
Set Hybrid and Hibernate modes to "Off"
Under USB settings select "Disable"
Under Multimedia select "Allow ....."

No, I have new Dell Computer.

OK, I tried it - it has been working fine all morning. I also added a laptop
cooling fan -

No, I have new Dell Computer.

If it's new, it's still under warranty. Contact Dell and get them to
fix or replace it. Such problems are almost always hardware problems,
not Windows ones.

My latop started shutting down again today - looks like our tweaks didn't
work. Here's the msg I get:

Ok, I found the settings. It is already set to shut off before sleep. I
think I'll call Dell tomorrow. Thanks

thanks dmex.

My CPU is AMD is that makes a difference. No memory has been added. This
just started occuring a few weeks ago. I recently tried adding Logitech's
Squeezebox duet remote - allows for streaming music between the pc and the
stereo. But it's a remote/ Would that cause it?

I keep getting the 9f blue screen error when the loptop goes on sleep mode or
hibernate. This is a brand new dell and tech support updated the bios for me
as well as many other things and it keeps happening. The replaced the laptop
for a brand new one and I had the same issue. Just today they upgraded the
video card to a 256 nvidia and I still get the error. I already spent over 20
hours with dell tech support and they seem clueless. I'm thinking of
downgrading to XP to see if that is going to resolve it as I don't think
there is an solution from Microsoft for this problem yet.

I have this error. it happened because i did not close down all the programs.
i have second life installed and every time i put it to sleep (by closing the
lid) with the software still running i get this error. I also got the video
hardware error 1 minute before the blue screen. the only difference in my
blue screen and these are the numbers.

I am running vista home premium on a Toshiba satellite with 1 G of memory. I
wiped it clean nite and a half ago and reinstalled vista from the Toshiba
restore disk, downloaded the updates, put in both AVG anti virus and AVG
anti-ad ware. malware. I do a clean every day, and when i run second life -
being so large and using so much memory (400,000+kb) i exit all programs that
are unnecessary in my system.

the only thing i did that is the same as the previous times this happened to
me was not closing all programs before putting her to sleep. And, i put her
to sleep about 2 1/2 hours ago and the error only popped up 15 minutes ago
according to event viewer.

I also have a new Dell and Dell has already come out and replaced the hard
drive. It didn't do a thing......still get the blue screen. Problem seems
to be that Visa shuts down for some unknown reason when I'm not using the
computer. HELP.

I also have a toshiba satellite and i get this message every once in awhile
i've had my laptop a yr now and its happend maybe 5 6 times. Any suggestions?
and the blue screen has allways come up when i go to start up my comp after i
put it in hibernation or sleep mode.
