Unexpected Shut down

I have a Gateway desktop with a pre-intstalled Vista premium as the OS.
Lately, I have been experiencing some frequent shut downs or crashes of the
OS. But it will start up automatically to the desktop. There is a dialogue
that tells me (when it re-boots again) that Windows has experience a shut
down unexpectedly, and will send me a reason when it finds one. But it never
does. Is there some reason that the computer is doing this? Is anyone else
experiencing this? Sure is annoying. Thanks

Hi Brad,

The first thing to do is to discover the cause. Click start and type 'event
viewer' and check the system logs for clues. You could also go to the
control panel and open Problem Reports and Solutions, as it will also have
details on whatever error is crashing the system. If you'd like, post the
details of what you find back here for further assistance. Things to list
are error messages, modules involved, error or bcccodes, etc.

In addition to Rick's post think about what changes did you make, hardware
and software, between the time things worked and when the problems started.
If these problems have been present from the get go, then you should be
complaining to Gateway tech support.
