Unexpected Restart by XP

This is a very annoying problem that happens every so
often when your're in the middle of doing something. I'll
be doing normal work on the PC whether browsing the
internet, or typing in Word and the PC will immediatly
shutdown and restart; as in your typing and the screen
goes black then boot screen appears. Another weird thing
is you would expect XP to do a scan disk after such a
fault, but it just boots up normally. This never occured
until XP was installed. Has anyone ever ran across a
problem like this?
Thanks for your input!

Don't have a fix for it, I'm also interrested in finding
out, it has happened to me same way several times. My own
opinion, windows 98 was a much more reliable set-up.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a bad power supply...In my
opinion, it hs nothing to do with XP.
