Uneven tick marks and gridlines

In a graph where the X axis represents dates, I would like my tick
marks and vertical grid lines at 8/26/1998, 6/6/1999, 8/24/1999, and
6/4/2000. (These are the first and last days of consecutive school
years.) How can I place my ticks and grid lines at these positions,
with no other tick marks on the X axis?

Thanks,
Paul

Hi,

If you change the category axis to display by category you will get one
tickmark per each of your dates. They will be equally spaced.

If you want the date spaces proportional to the value of those dates, (Jan 1
in farther from Jan 30 than it is from Jan 2), you would need to create a
dummy x axis since these items are not equi-distant apart. Also you would
need to create dummy series to substitute for the gridlines.
