No. The vast majority of Websites are unencrypted.
Encryption protects data when you are sending sensitive data, such as online
banking, etc. You should be sure that you are on a "Secure" website any
time you are providing your personal information (credit card number, etc).
*NEVER* give personal information ot websites that are not "Secure". Also,
be wary of the current "phishing" scams; emails that arrive in your inbox
telling you they need you to verify information about your account. The
pages look very authentic, but are not...they are there to steal your
personal information.
To protect yourself, make sure you have both a good hardware and a software
firewall (Hardware = router (yes even if you only have one computer), and do
not depend on the worthless software firewall that is part of Windows).
Make sure are running a reputable anitivirus software program, and *KEEP IT
UPDATED*.
Run AdAware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and CWShredder regularly.
Regularly clean out your Windows Temp Files, Internet Explorer cache, etc.
While on the topic, do not use Internet Explorer as your default browser.
Use Firefox instead. It is less vulnerable than is Internet Explorer.
