I wanted to do a system restore back one day as my PC was acting funny and I
ended up in Dr. Watson where it asked me if I wanted to do a PC restore.
Unintentionally I hit yes and now I've lost everything in my user profile. I
can still get in and find other users stuff on the computer but mine seems to
be completely gone (ie. outlook messages, word/excel docs). Is there any way
I can undo the whole thing to reset my computer back to a few days ago? I
tried the system resotre but the save points are gone..

Thanks in advance. (Sorry if this is a duplicate post.. I wrote a couple of
hours ago but didn't see it posted on here).

Isn't there a way to do a system recovery from dos or the regedit? Is there
a way I can locate my "lost" files (ie. word documents/outlook messages)?

Hi Keri,

If System Restore was used from within Windows, an Undo restore point should
have been created. Launch System Restore, is there an option to "Undo my
last restoration"? If the answer is yes, choose it to restore the system.

No, there's ins't an option saying "undo my last restoration". :-(

If I can't get it back the way it was, is there somewhere I can find the
files? I know they're there somewhere.. I found all my picutres..

Keri, try a Search. Click on All Files and Folders, then More Advanced
Options, then check System Files, Search Hidden files and Folders and Search
Subfolders Box . Type in the " All or part of file name " box Outlook
Express If your emails are still on the drive they will show up in the
Outlook Express Folder. Choose the one that has a long file path.
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\ljsjldjlds\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

Do the same for your Excel by typing *.xls and for Word Docs
*.doc and Pictures *.jpg

Okay I decided I'd try the repair install but first I went to look for the
"undo_guimode.txt" file in the system32 folder. It's not there. So I went
to the dos promt to manually delete it to see if it was hidden and it said
"could not find file". So now what??
