All, I have made some changes without knowing what I was doing and it
got messed up.
I was using my laptop with a wireless card to connect to my internet
running via Linksys wireless router. I could connect perfectly fine
and surf the internet. My wireless network was called "linksys".
In the SysTray, I clicked on the wireless network icon which pulled up
the Wireless Network Connection Status window. On this, I clicked on
the "View Wireless Networks" button.
From here I clicked on the "Set up a wireless network for home or small
office" to start the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard".
I chose to create a new network and called it "linksys". This was also
the name of the earlier network that I used to connect to the router. I
accepted the choice to "Automatically assign a network key". Next I
chose to "Setup a network manually".
Then I got the confirmation "The Wizard completed successfully".
After this, I can't connect to my internet from my laptop.
So what did I screw up and how do I undo it?
If I missed some info pls let me know what you're looking for. I have
the network configurtion from the wizard saved, if that helps.
Thanks,
Sashi

When you accepted "Automatically assign a network key", you told the
Wizard to generate a random network key. That key is undoubtedly
different than the existing network key for your Linksys router, so
you can't connect to the router.

Two possible fixes:

1. Run the Wizard again and select "Manually assign a network key"
instead of "Automatically assign a network key". Click Next, then
enter the router's existing network key in the indicated boxes.

or:

2. Don't use the Wizard at all. In "View Available Wireless
Networks", click your network name. When it asks for a network key,
enter the router's existing network key.

Right-click the wireless network connection, either in the system tray
or in the Network Connections folder.

I know this is an old thread but I also need help. I have XP by the way. Like Sashi, I mistakenly used the Network Connection Wizard to create a workgroup. And now, my LAN connections don't show at all in the Network Connections. It's totally missing and I can't log in to the internet. I wish to undo the connection and I can't use System Restore for it and I don't need to share with other computers. But how do I undo or make this computer single or not part of a workgroup again. I've been told that since the LAN connection is missing that my LAN has probably been corrupted but Device Manager shows that it's working properly. I want to d this step first... undoing the workgroup network connection before I do other steps like installing or reinstalling network adapter drivers which might screw it up more. I hope someone can help. Help!

=)
