I don't seem to be the only with this problem: at startup
of my system I was prompted whether or not to run the
chkdsk utility on one of my drives. I didn't abort on time
and the darn thing started... Result: entire partition
screwed.
Now of course I would have preferred running easyrecovery
(or any good alternate) to recover the files before they
were touched.
To the good folks at Microsoft: IS THERE ANY WAY OF
UNDOING THE CHKDSK REPAIRS? IF NOT, PLEASE DON'T RUN IT
AUTOMATICALLY AT BOOT-UP....
To any of you out there: if you know of a way to undo the
repairs (the good old found.ooo directory) pleeaase drop
me line.
To all of you with the same problem: browse the directory
with ACDSEE to recover pictures or multimedia that might
have been in there. Group the files by properties, move
them into an empty directory and use the dos rename
command to rename them all to the correct type. This works
decently, but keep in mind your recovery percentage will
still be small.
