The computer guy at my school has managed to mess up my
laptop. I originally had Windows 98 and had to upgrade
to be able to hook into the school's ethernet system.
The computer service guy came to my room to "fix" my
computer. What he did was try to install Windows ME on
top of Windows 98 and when that system wouldn't work he
then put Windows XP Professional on top of that. Now I
have a laptop that only has 5% free space. I was
wondering if it is possible to get rid of Windows ME and
98 without losing anything else on my laptop. Any help
with this would be increadibly helpful.

Be careful, depending on the brand of laptop, they may have put a highly modified version of Windows in order to operate proprietary hardware. If you have backed up your documents and personal data, I recommend you re-format and install an operating system from scratch. However, it might be best to do this and restore from the restore cd's provided by the laptop vendor. If you don't have the restore media then install XP pro from scratch and see if all the attributes of the laptop still work. Use ntfs file system. Perhaps you could also purchase a new hard drive (check newegg) and do the reinstall and you will have the old hd to use in case it all fails

Good Luck, Bil
