"undetected system configuration" ???

After I install XP Pro (Clean/New Install), when I reboot the system I get a black screen with "undetected system configuration" and then options to choose from, Windows, Unix, OS/2 ....etc. I'm new to this, any ideas ??? Thanks.
 
Is your BIOS set to boot from the CD _only_? eg It should normally be set
to boot from the CD then the HD if no CD is found (don't forget to take the
installation CD out!). Once it's all working you can set it to boot from the
HD first to speed up booting.
