under US $3-400 new printers on the horizon ?

I am more than content right now with my Pixma 5000, and I don't have the
time or inclination to follow breaking technology announcements for future
products.

But I am curious if anyone has heard of any new models on the horizon in the
under US $3-400 range that are going to have some "awesome" new
capabilities, resolutions, colors, ability to print on heavy card stock,
whatever.

If you needed a printer for under US $3-400 : what would you buy now ... if
not now, what would you wait for ?

Thought I saw a Canon inkjet for $299 or $399 that would do 11x17,
I've always wanted a home printer that could do that!

Canon and HP have had 13"x19" capable printers for $299 out for awhile now...
they are nice!
