I'm looking for a free or cheap utility, which can recover a partition on my
300GB External USB hard disk.
I believe the hard disk may be damaged, because suddenly it lost all its
partitions, and windows wanted to write a new identity to the disk (you know
.... the first time Windows sees a new disk).
The disk only contains a few Virtual Machines (which I can make again) and
DVD Rips, for DVD's that I own (which I can rip again), so I do not want to
spend a lot of money, unless I'm confident that it is the right tool for the
job.
* Because it is an external USB Disk the utility should be windows based.
* Because most files are named like VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB etc. it must
be able to recover the folder structure as well.
The partition filled the entire hard disk, and I believe it was a Primary
partition, but I'm not 100% sure.
I did googled a lot, before asking here, but it's a jungle out there, so I
was hoping that you could lead me to the right product.
