Running XP, sp2

experiencing uncontrollable scrolling on rss web pages (DIGG, Boing Boing,
MetaFilter...).
starts out slowly, increases to where only thing left is to reboot.
zips from top to bottom , repeatedly.. like hitting page up and then
page down button a couple of thousand times
NO scrolling in word or other programs, do not think it is mouse.
Not wireless mouse by the way.
Relpaced mouse and drivers.
Have up to date firewall, antispyware. no nasty bugs found
Would shooting computer help ?

Hi Tandy :-)

This is possibly being caused by third party programs-

First, if you have any 3rd party toolbars, such as Google, Yahoo or MSN,
disable them. IF still no joy then.....

Go to IE>Tools>Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third
party browser extensions."
If this allows IE to work properly then you likely have scumware on your
system. Clean you machine, then Disable the "third party browser
extensions." after the cleanup.

First, download and install BHODemon from
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
Your problem may be caused by a bad BHO.

Run Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Searc & Destroy. Download from this link.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

Note: You must update them both immediately after installing and before
running. Run them both in Safe Mode with Hidden files enabled.

Also..go here and have this free online virus scan:

Hope this helps.
