I have recently upgraded my hard drive. Because I didn't
want to loose my email messages, I compacted them and
saved them to a disk. Now I am unable to uncompact them.
Does anyone know how I can accomplish this task.

When you say that you 'compacted' them, do you mean that you used the
compact command from Outlook or did you use another program that
turned your messages into a .zip (or some other type of) file?

If you just used the compact command in Outlook, there is no reason
that the compacted file should not be readable by Outlook. That
compact command only takes all of the free space out of your message
store. It does not convert the messages to another form.

If you saved your messages onto a CD, that file needs to be
transferred back onto your hard drive and the 'read only' attribute
needs to be removed before the message store will be readable by
Outlook.
