unclogging Epson cx5400 nozzles?

I replaced two of the color cartridges on the cx5400..blue and yellow. The
"meter"showed that they were both "low"..but I did NOT have any error or
warning messages. I know this printer signals "ink needed" before it is
really needed...but I went ahead and bought them anyhow.

The printer now only prints in red/black. After reading ALL of Epson's
advice, and "cleaning the heads" about four times, I bought another two
cartridges, hoping it was due to a bad stock item(s) from Best Buy. Nope,
the ones I bought from Wal-Mart don't print either. I now have about $75.00
in cartridges that aren't doing me any good. Any OTHER ideas how I can
unblock the nozzles???

The device is OK for scanning etc. .... but I need a printer that I can
count on to use when I need one. I had a HP before, and may well have to go
back to them, since at least their nozzles are replaced every time you buy
ink ( I think ). Help please and thank you RichG TX

E-mail Art Entlich (look for a post in this ng for his e-mail address) and
request a copy of his Epson Head cleaning manual.
He will send it to you at no charge.

Please email me at:

and I will send you information on resolving this problem. It is not
uncommon, and the fix can be pretty simple, depending on what the cause
is (there are several possible causes).

Don't try anymore cleaning cycles for now (just wasting ink) and don't
discard your cartridges.
