I am using win2K servers.
While installing one application in servers it requires
administrative share of c drive.ie the c drive should open
when we give this type of command in the run
prompt:\\servername\c$.
I had given administrative share for c drive.
my system is standalone and not connected to the
network.when i give the above command in the run prompt
the following error message is coming.
"\\servername\c$ not accessible. The network path was not
found."
Is there any settings which is to be changed for reaching
this drive?

In some servers it is opening when we give this command.

Kindly help.

If your "system is standalone and not connected to the network" then how do
you expect to access any shares via the network???

IF you are simply trying to get to the administrative share LOCALLY and you
are getting that error, you probably don't have permissions to it. Are you
logged in with administrator permissions? It sounds like the crapware you
are trying to install is just testing your access to the c: drive so it can
write to the registry and \winnt folder, but that really has nothing to do
with the administrative share itself other than if you are logged in with
appropriate permissions, you "likely" also have access to that share.

I am trying to get the adminstrative share locally and iam
having administrative privileges,if i connect the system
to the network then i can get the share locally.i need to
reach the share with out connecting to the network.

in some stand alone systems i am able to get the
share.there is some settings it seems.

kindly help

The fact that you can access it when connected to the network, but cannot
when not connected tells me you probably have a domain account with
administrator rights, but you need LOCAL administrator rights to the
machine.
