Unbuffered? ECC Memory

My PC requires the following for memory...

"256MB 168pin SDRAM DIMM 32Mx72 ECC gold leads unbuffered 3.3 volts PC100
spec 100 Mhz with SPD CAS 3 latency 18 chip count 1.25 inches tall"

My question relates to "unbuffered". Will memory come buffered and
unbuffered for ECC memory? Is the term buffered the same as "registered"
???

The terms buffered and registered can be used interchangeably.

You can get ECC memory in either buffered or unbuffered. Look at

Would it be correct that you could not put "buffered" memory in a PC that
states it requires "unbuffered" ? Or is this a feature that would not cause
it not to work but just not take advantage of a "buffering" feature ???
What ever that may be :)

That is correct. If it requires unbuffered RAM, then buffered RAM will
not work at all.
