can i change a property (eg. back color) for an unbounded control for a
certain record while viewing the form as a continous form???????

Not using code. However, both those properties can be
changed using Conditional Formatting in the Format menu.

I think the image control in Access 2007 can do this. In all older versions a
continuous form with a different picture per record requires using a bound
object frame control.
