anyone know of a backup utility that will do this for files in use - i.e
outlooks PST, etc?

Thanks

My Own Backup (MOB) does incremental backups to files or zip. It works with
WinRAR too. Unfortunately it doesn't have a backup scheduler, but can be set
up with the Scheduling Agent.

Curious. How did you ascertain that it copied "files in use" ? Many
file copiers simply ignore them.

John - I set up replicator to run on start up - therefore my Forte
Agent file is not in use.

Sorry - I/m not sure if it does copy files when they are truly used by
windows.

Okay, thanks for the feedback. It seems to me that unless one
confirms that ALL files are copied a backup is of limited use. That
is certainly the case where a whole drive is being cloned.

Agreed - but not the case when you use it to back up your documents
and other data.

I had presumed, and may be wrong again, that the "unattended,
scheduled" part of the OP question meant that they wanted to use it
fairly frequently.

Replicator works for me - I prefer to format and re-install every now
and then, to keep things ship shape - but its been 18 months now - I
must be getting better at looking after my machine :-)
