I am trying to install Windows 2000 via a network share. I have Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 slipstreamed in the installation directory. I have installed the hot fixes as instructed for a combination installation. The installation seems to work, however, when I run the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer, I am receiving an error that a registry key has not been updated in connection with Security Update MS03-042. I looked in the directory of files that are associated with this update. Everything seems to be there. There is a file named update.inf which has code to apply the changes to the registry. I'm wondering if this file needs special instructions during unattended setup to run. I can find no references to this on TechNet. Has anyone seen anything like this ? As far as I can tell, all other hotfixes are being applied properly

Thank you

Read:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/
bulletin/MS03-042.asp

section: Security patch Information for W2K
"Note: This registry key may not be not created properly when an
administrator or an OEM integrates or slipstreams the 824146 security patch
into the Windows installation source files."

In other words, the patch is installed, its just that the registry doesn't
have the list of files added following the slipstream.

Thank you for pointing that out! Would it be improper to put a script in that runs after installation to make the registry edit ?
