unanble to compact dbs

Suddenly I cannt compact/repair any of my dbs

I get the following error:

MS Access can't delete <path>\mydb.mdb after compacting it. The compacted
database has been name <path>\mydb.mdb

Check your permissions on that folder. If you don't have Windows
create/delete/modify permission on the folder you won't be able to compact.
