Hi,

I am Extremely sorry for the cross posting; I am not sure which group
is relevant; I would be grateful if someone can point me to the
relevant group.

I have a software which automatically copies files into a DVDRAM as and
when the files become available.
The problem is that when I introduce a brand new DVDRAM (my software
uses code from http://www.sysinternals.com/SourceCode/fmifs.html( which
uses formatex) ) the software throw the error that the the DVDRAM is
"write protected".

But subsequently I am able to write to tthe DVDRAM.

Has any one faced a similar problem?
How can I get around/solve this problem?

How Can I "de-write protect" in my software ?

I am using Windows XP pro and LG GSA 4082B drive
THanks in advance

I'm not sure what you are trying to do. I suppose you have noticed that
software that comes with GSA-4082 contains its own formatting utility. There
must have been a reason for that. Possibly this means that the standard
formatting API may not work with the DVD-RAM driver.

Hello,

This group seems sufficient relevant to me :-)

??? What is this software's name?

Wow, I am sorry but will not try to understand everything they write
about this software. And why would you need this software?
the software throw the error that the the DVDRAM is
"write protected".

Yes, I have experienced this and many other oddities before being able
to work normally with dvd-ram's.
But subsequently I am able to write to tthe DVDRAM.

What *are* you writing to dvd-ram anyway? dvd-video files or general
type of files? Are you using Fat32 formatted dvd-ram's or
udf-formatted ones?

Why is it a problem as you can write to dvd-ram after this erroneous
error message?
How Can I "de-write protect" in my software ?

Do not know. perhaps with one of the dvd-ram tools from SAI.
I am using Windows XP pro and LG GSA 4082B drive

And I use windows XP Home and 2 LG drives, one of them being the 4082B
