I recently had my computer infected with a virus which
kept me from connecting to the internet. I bought virus
protection software and got my connectivity back, but now
I am unable to use the searchs on msn, yahoo etc, and my
browser won't even load google, hotbot, or altavista. I
get 'Page Cannot Be Displayed' in both these cases. Any
ideas?

The virus (Trojan actually) is called QHosts. I don't know what AV software you used, but it apparently did not do a very good cleanup job. See these pages for additional information and instructions on manually cleaning the damage: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_100719.htm and http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.qhosts.html. You might also want to download this standalone cleaner which will do much of the cleanup for you, Symantec Security Response - Trojan.Qhosts Removal Tool: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.qhosts.removal.tool.html
