I am unable to view word documents sent to me, I am using
wordpad from Windows Home XP,
Is there anything I can download to view these doc's or
can I change any of my settings so I can view them, I
can't ask the sender to change everthing into Wordpad just
for me.
Thank you in advance for your advice.

Microsoft has Word document "viewer" that can be downloaded for free,
if you can find it on their web site. They keep moving it around so
my URL doesn't work. Viewer lets you open and print word documents.

Can someone post the current link ?

Tracie:
Download and install the MS Word viewer from the following link...
http://tinyurl.com/fua3
This will allow you to view, but not alter, Word documents.
Note that although it is not specifically mentioned on the download page,
the viewer will run under Windowx XP.

.

Download Open Office from www.openoffice.org - it's a
fully functional Office suite and will read and edit Word
documents, Excel spreadsheets and powerpoint files. It's
FREE.

Download details: Word 97/2000 Viewer (Windows 95/98/NT):

FYI I have doc files created in Word 2003 which are readable with Word
Pad delivered with Windows XP. What you may be missing is by default
Wordpad doesn't present *.doc files. Just navigate to the file you with
to open and include the right *.doc type of file, and it should open.

If this doesn't work, does the error message presented in Wordpad give a
clue.

Other ideas already provide: get the free Word Viewer, buy Microosft
Word, use the free Open Office, are all viable options.

Other options would be for the doc creater to make and give you an Adobe
PDF copy, or an RTF formatted version.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
