Unable to view pictures stored on my computer only the thumb nails

I'm getting an error message:
This application failed to start because the application configuration is in
correct. Re installing the application may fix this problem.
 
I recently had the same problem. What worked for me was to right click on a
jpeg file, and choose the "open with" option (NOT "open"), then click on
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Hope that helps.

If you are running Windows XP...it may be
worth a try to run the following command:

Proceed at your own risk...

Go to...Start / Run and type
(or copy/paste):

regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll

(yes, the space after the 2 and the space
after the i is required)

Press...Enter...

You should see a dialog box that says:
DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in shimgvw.dll succeeded
