Unable to View .JPG Thumbnail Files

Hi, I am experiencing difficulties viewing thumbnail .jpg and .gif files on webpages. It seems that the thumbnail jpg file and gif file appear as a red x. When I try to open the file to view the larger image, it says "this page cannot be displayed".

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
