I have four systems on my home network, two desktop, two laptop. all running
xp home with sp3, desktops and one laptop can do file and print sharing final
laptop compaq presario can not. All systems can access internet, all have
unique ip addresses, all in the same workgroup MSHOME. the desktops are wired
and laptops are wireless. I contacted microsoft live onecare who mentioned
network setup was correct and he or his next level support could not figure
out the problem. I have even tried netbui (even though it is not support). I
am lost, I would at least like to use the shared
printer.

I can't speak for the competence of the Live OneCare tech, but Live OneCare
causes problems with LAN connectivity. Did you try this?

To properly configure Windows Live OneCare for the local area network,
please see the following MS KB Article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923157

This is because Windows Live OneCare disables file/printer sharing.

I have had this problem even before installing the microsoft live one care
but I will use your suggestions and let you know of the results.
