I have a problem with my Internet connection. Several
programs (such as Quicken 2003) indicate that when it
needs to download something from the internet that the
computer cannot verify that there is an active
connection, even though I am using a cable modem and am
active at that time on the interent. Soemtimes I also get
a box on Internet Explorer that indicates that I am
offline box (and the offline choice is not active) which
will also indicate that I do not have a connection, but
when I click on retry the page opens.

Any idea what could be causing this problem?

I had what appears to be the same problem when i bought the new netgear
108mbs wireless router (wired connection). I sent it back and didnt risk
replacing it with the same model. Ive a netgear fr114p now and it all works
perfectly.
When I connected directly from my xp pc I just repeatedly lost the internet
altogether.
You dont state how you're connected to the cable modem.

Thanks for your reply. I do have a netgear rp114 router
so I am pretty sure it has something to do with my
network set up on my XP computer.
