My son by error allowed trojon horse program to take over my PC. I have used my mcafee software to remove the programs. However, since this happened I have been unable to get iexplorer working. My outlook, netscape and even by quicken have no problem accessing the internet. I have attempted to re-install Explorer. I have even re-installed XP over top of my current XP. I'm at a lose of my next step. Short of reformating and starting again.

Can you remember the name of whichever trojan was installed?

If Internet Explorer is the only problem there should be no need to
reinstall the operating system.

By re-install Explorer, did you do Control Panel - Add or Remove
Programs - Add/Remove Windows Components?

I would bet you have a browser hijack. That's spyware, not a virus.
You need HijackThis, Spybot S&D, and expert advice at SWI Forums (all
free). Complete instructions are available at:
