Unable to use more than one network printer in Windows XP

I am having a peculiar problem, I am unable to use more than one
printer from the network on my Windows XP Pro machine at work.

The printers are installed on Windows NT server, using a Linksys print
server with parallel ports. I had previously been able to print to two
separate printers, one for "special papers" such as labels, colored
stock and such, and the other printer had plain white paper.

The "special paper" printer gave up the ghost, and was recently
replaced. Others are able to use the new and old printer as needed,
but for some reason, when I installed the new one, I got this when
trying to print the test page: "The test page failed to print. Would
you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance? Operation
could not be completed."

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both printers, and the one that I
install FIRST, will work. When I install the second, it gives the same
error. This is happening on both the original printer and the "special
paper" printer; I reversed the installs... so I have come to the
conclusion that I have some sort of file corruption on my machine.
Especially since everyone else in the office is working with the new
setup smoothly.

I have searched newsgroups, Microsoft's web site, and personal/pro web
sites in hopes of finding a solution to no avail. Any suggestions will
be greatly appreciated.

After removing the connection be sure to delete the driver that was
installed from the server.

You'll need to have admin privilege on your system
Printers Folder
File, Server Properties, Drivers

I have seen issues when different version drivers are installed on different
print servers but it sounds like both printers are shared from the same
server?

Thanks Alan:

I removed all printers and removed the drivers, then reinstalled but
still have the same issue. It's baffling...

I also rebuilt the ports on the ports tab. Both printers are delivered
via the same server.

Our IT person remotely logged on and set up a direct connection to the
print server (Linksys hub), rather than the WinNT server that the
software was installed on. So, my situation is not fixed, just worked
around.

Thanks for your suggestion, I appreciate it!!! I believe it would have
worked in a lot of cases, mine seems to be a fluke.
